Important: This course reflects 2023 changes to the Hazardous Products Regulations 

Injuries and illnesses that result from exposures to hazardous products can be serious, however, they can also be prevented. By understanding the hazards of the products that you use, you will be able to take measures to protect yourself and others. This course is designed to support your understanding of WHMIS, as well as hazards relating to pesticides, veterinary drugs, and medicated feed products. 

For the best learning experience, it is recommended that this course be completed using a desktop computer, laptop computer, or tablet. 

This course is broken out in three parts, two of which are optional. What you will learn and the estimated completion times are broken out below. Each part has its own Certificate of Completion which is made available to you inside the course!

What You Will Learn

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)

Estimated time to complete: For those very familiar with WHMIS, this course can be completed in approximately 30 to 45 minutes. For those less familiar with WHMIS, it may take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to complete.

Note: This portion of the course meets the requirements for General WHMIS Training. 

This part of the course will:
- Introduce hazardous products,  WHMIS, and GHS.
- Explain the main parts of WHMIS, as well roles and responsibilities that relate to WHMIS.
- Describe exposures, routes of entry, and the Golden Rules of Hazardous Products. 
- Explain the hazard groups, classes, categories, and pictograms used in WHMIS.
- Teach you how to to read and understand labels and safety data sheets (SDSs). 
- End with a short knowledge check.
- Provide you with a customized certificate within the course upon completion.

Pesticides

Estimated time to complete: 20 minutes

This part of the course will:
- Explain what what a pesticides are, how they work, and about the different types.
- Describe pesticide selection best practices
- Teach you how to read a pesticide label, including what the symbols mean and where to find more information.
- Provide you with information on how to safely use, store, and dispose of pesticides.
- Teach you about exposures, their sign & symptoms, as well as health effects.
- End with a short knowledge check.
- Provide you with a customized certificate within the course upon completion.

Veterinary Drugs and Medicated Feeds

Estimated time to complete: 15 minutes

This part of the course will: 
- Explain the information found on these labels and where to find more information. 
- Provide information on how to safely use, store, and dispose of these products.
- End with a short knowledge check.
- Provide you with a customized certificate within the course upon completion.
